Puddle Jumpers – Limehouse, our inaugural nursery opened in 2019 and is located a 5 minute walk from Westferry DLR station.
Uniquely based within railway arches, our three rooms are spacious, bright and open. A beautiful bespoke fitout allows our children to thrive in a well laid out and lively environment. All classrooms have direct access to the garden where children enjoy creating ‘chocolate cupcakes’ or making potions in the Mud Kitchen, digging in our sand pit or experiencing water play with our ‘pump-it-up’ water feature. This city garden is our outdoor classroom where children have the opportunity to build and sit around a ‘camp fire’ chat with their friends and eat their tea or participate in a creative sensory walk.
There is an array of green spaces around our Limehouse nursery where children can enjoy nature and partake in our Forest School sessions.
Trips within our Local Community
Our fabulous location provides lots of opportunities for our children to become immersed in the local community. We aim to take them out of the nursery each day to explore the area around us. The children regularly visit local shops and markets to buy ingredients for their cooking activities. We often walk down to the river to watch the boats or visit the swans at Limehouse Marina. They love to pick flowers in the beautiful grounds of St Anne’s Church, try on fireman’s hats at Poplar Fire Station, read books at The IDEA Store, run around in Ropemaker’s Fields, feed the animals at Mudchute Farm and visit so many other exciting places.
Children are able to experience taking public transport including the underground, the Elizabeth Line, the DLR, local buses and Uber boats. They confidently greet members of the public and we beam with pride when we are told how well behaved the children are on our trips. Our pre-schoolers can happily tell you how long it takes an Uber Boat to get to Tower Bridge or what type of flowers grow at Ropemakers Fields where our Toddlers also love to experience physical play opportunities. Not to miss out, children from our Baby Room have the choice of walking or hopping in our 8-seater buggy on their excursions.
We pride ourselves on our ability to provide these experiences and learning opportunities to our children and spend lots of time outside. Come rain or shine we will be in our garden, enjoying forest school learning or be out and about in our local community.
